Full time attendance is not required to receive financial aid. You may receive most types of financial aid with at least half time enrollment. Half time enrollment for an undergraduate is 6 credit hours and half time status for a graduate student is 3 credit hours of enrollment at the 500 level or above. Most financial aid awards are made assuming you will be full time. If you choose not to enroll full time for a semester, your financial aid award and disbursements will be adjusted.
The Financial Aid Office policy on loans is that we will not disburse loans to you unless you are enrolled full time or you have provided us with a Financial Aid Response Form that indicates your level of enrollment so that your cost of attendance can be adjusted to reflect your true enrollment. Students should complete this form as early as possible to insure that their loan disbursements occur in a timely manner.

What is the breakdown for how financial aid is adjusted? If you are part time does it reduce the award by 50%? If you are taking 9 hrs. does it reduce by 25%?

Specific funds have specific fules but each student situation is different. You should consult a financial aid counselor for specifc questions about your aid if you will not be full time.

I plan to attend the university this fall. I just graduate from high school and move to caroline after Hurricane Katrina. I have been living with my aunt for the last 3 years and she have been claiming me on her taxes. Do I have to have my father’s taxes since I am not using his tax information for financial aid.
